Description of ride: Maintained fireroads through coastal chapparal. There are no large trees, so use sun screen. Low-to-moderate mountain bike traffic. Steep climb from parking area to ridge. Levels out after that, with occasional modest ups and downs. Lovely views of Pacific Ocean and shore from Laguna Beach to Newport Harbor from western portion of ridges. No water for horses along route.
The route indicated starts in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (Orange County Park system) and travels into Crystal Cove State Park (CA state park system). The parking lot closes at 5pm daily, both summer and winter; plan your ride to be out by then.
